Date: June 16th, 2010 About the Speaker: Michael Scheinfein received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and his Doctorate in Applied Physics from Cornell University. For six years Dr. Scheinfein was an independent consultant, working at the juncture of technology and finance. He worked funding deals for startups and established firms, sometimes working on behalf of the technology companies, sometimes for the venture capital firms, sometimes for private equity and sometimes for investment banks.Dr. Scheinfein is also an entrepreneur. For nearly fifteen his company, LLG Micromagnetics Simulator, has provided tools for scientists and engineers to solve problems in micromagnetic phenomenon. He knows the challenges of developing a product, marketing in the high-tech environment, and keeping on the good side of smart, demanding customers. Prior to his work at FEI and as a consultant, Dr. Scheinfein held the tier-I NSERC Research Chair in Nanomagnetism/Physics at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC and was Professor of Physics at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.
