FE Review Courses Offered: Beginning in September, the University of Portland will offer review courses to prepare for the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination. Wednesdays, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., September 7 to December 7, 2005 for General Topics (FE Morning Session) 1 CEU and January 25 to April 5, 2006 for Discipline Specific Topics (FE Afternoon Session) 1 CEU. COMMUNICATION SOCIETY PRESENTS WIRELESS LAN WORKSHOPS

Wireless LAN Analysis (4-day workshop)
Dates: Aug 29th -Sept 1st, 2005
Venue: Kingstad Place for Meetings, Beaverton, Oregon

This workshop offers hands-on learning using the latest enterprise-class wireless LAN analysis hardware and software. This course targets experienced networking professionals who wish to gain critical, detailed skills in wireless networking analysis. These skills include an in-depth understanding of the frame structure of 802.11 frames, frame exchange processes between wireless nodes, analyzing security solutions for both effectiveness and weaknesses, analyzing performance in both pure and mixed-mode environments, and using analyzers for site surveying and intrusion detection.

The analysis course is for serious IT professionals with a desire to get to the root cause of any problem or situation in the most expedient manner possible.

Overview
In this one day course, Peter Rysavy of Rysavy Research provides a fundamental understanding of how different wide-area wireless networks function, their latest and forthcoming advances, their market realities and how best to take advantage of them. Technologies include 3G cellular systems such as EDGE, CDMA2000 (1XRTT, 1XEV-DO, 1XEV-DV), UMTS, HSDPA and emerging technologies such as evolved 3G systems and WiMAX (IEEE 802.16-2004, IEEE 802.16e).
